If they tasted salty, you put in too much salt. You can very easily make pancakes wrong, especially if you don't follow the recipe exactly. In fact, pancakes are really easy to mess up. Adding too much salt is just one way in addition to over-mixing the batter or messing up any other ingredients.

One teaspoon in this recipe will not create salty pancakes. I have made them many times before and never ended up with salty pancakes. Make sure you added 1 teaspoon and not 1 tablespoon. Try cutting out the salt if you're worried about them being too salty. It might slightly affect the final result, but it's mostly for flavor. If you added in strawberries, the saltiness should be even less evident if you added the right amount.

Cayla,

You could try that, but I would suggest cutting back on the sugar in the recipe since chocolate syrup is sweet and cocoa powder is not.

Hmmm, I don't have one on hand, but I will definitely have to think about that. Hopefully I'll be able to add one to the site in the near future. I suggest searching for a recipe that uses coconut flour.

Sure! You don't have to put in vanilla. It's not a requirement, and you probably won't notice much of a difference flavor-wise.
